Blepharoplasty Information
The eyelids are typically the first region of the face to show signs of aging. Often by the time one reaches the mid thirties the upper eyelids develop hanging skin and the lower lids build up fatty bags which progressively create a tired appearance. Blepharoplasty is the name of the operation which effectively addresses these changes.
As one ages into the forties and beyond, the signs of eyelid fatigue continue to advance. Specifically, the descent of the lower eyelid orbicularis muscle accentuates the appearance of exhaustion. In these cases neither traditional transcutaneous or transconjunctival blepharoplasty can achieve optimal rejuvenation. Instead, an orbicularis muscle suspension provides a more complete correction. Re-supporting this thin muscle sheet helps to better define the cheeks, sustain the natural shape of the lids and reduces the tired appearance of the eyes.
